Marriage Registration allows citizens and foreigners residing in Rwanda to register for legal marriage. Before engaged couples can marry they have to register to be married before the law at sector offices 21 days before the legal marriage takes place. Also, couples must show their birth certificates showing that they are over the age of 21 as dictated by the law. If there are no objections, the couple marries and sector officials provide a pink Marriage booklet (Livret de mariage)(applies to post-1994 marriages) for RWF 1500.
