Certificate of Succession
The Certificate of Succession is a signed form given to Rwandan citizen that has succeeded a deceased member of the family. The form is signed by the executive secretary of the sector where the deceased resided and their families. The form is found at the sector land office because many cases of succession relate to land matters. The form confirms that the successors exist and a family meeting was held to discuss about the successors.
It is supplemented by a confirmation form (form 7) which captures the details of the successors and the family members in attendance. Information in the form include: national identity card numbers, relationship to deceased and their signatures.
Note: Form 7 and Form 29 can both be accessed at the office of the sector land manager and signed by the executive secretary. Matters related to land require both forms to be signed. If it is not land related, only form 29 is filled and signed.
